Jhelum – Police in Jhelum have taken well-known religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza into custody under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), officials confirmed on Monday. Alongside his arrest, district authorities also sealed Mirza’s academy, barring entry and halting all activities on the premises.

Arrest on Deputy Commissioner’s Orders
According to police sources, the arrest was made on the directives of the Jhelum Deputy Commissioner. Following the detention, Mirza was shifted to jail as part of administrative measures aimed at ensuring public order. The action falls under Section 3 of the MPO law, which empowers district authorities to order detentions to prevent any situation that may disturb peace and stability.

In connection with the move, Mirza’s educational academy was also sealed. Authorities placed locks on the premises to restrict gatherings and potential activities. Officials noted that the step was necessary to minimize risks of public unrest and to maintain a controlled environment in the district.
