TLP Faces Major Setback as Two Leaders Join PPP

ATTOCK: In a significant blow to the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), two of its prominent leaders announced their defection to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Wednesday, as reported by PNB.

The leaders, both ticket holders for TLP, made the formal decision to leave the party after a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. This move is seen as a major setback for TLP, particularly in two provincial constituencies within NA-50 Attock-II.

Malik Amanat, representing PP-4, and Syed Atif Shah, from PP-5, were the TLP ticket holders who officially parted ways with the party, joining the PPP along with their colleagues. During their meeting with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, both leaders made their announcement, which was welcomed by the PPP Chairman. Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Hayat Khan was also present at the event.

This development follows a tense political landscape for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who last month rejected an offer from the federal government to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The offer came after Bilawal’s criticism of the government’s policies.

Bilawal clarified that his refusal to meet the Prime Minister was not personal but was rooted in the concerns of his voters and provincial governments. He expressed grievances with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding its handling of administrative matters in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Despite an earlier agreement, Bilawal noted that the PPP had been sidelined in managing administrative affairs in both provinces.
