Bangladesh kept their Super Four ambitions intact with a tense eight-run victory over Afghanistan in their final Asia Cup 2025 Group B match in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Set a target of 155, Afghanistan looked poised to seal qualification and eliminate the Tigers, but disciplined bowling halted their charge. Mustafizur Rahman spearheaded the attack with 3 for 28, while Nasum Ahmed’s miserly spell of 2 for 11 and Taskin Ahmed’s 2 for 34 kept the pressure on.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (35 off 31) and Azmatullah Omarzai (30 off 16) provided brief resistance, and skipper Rashid Khan threatened with a quick 20 from 11 balls. Yet once Rashid fell, Afghanistan’s chase unraveled, closing on 145 all out despite a couple of late sixes from Noor Ahmad.

Earlier, opener Tanzid Hasan anchored Bangladesh’s innings with a fluent 52 from 31 deliveries, guiding his side to a competitive 154 for 5. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad claimed two wickets apiece.
