Pakistan Blind Cricket Team Storms Into 2024 T20 World Cup Final with Dominant 10-Wicket Win Over Nepal
LAHORE: In a spectacular display of skill and dominance, the Pakistan blind cricket team secured a commanding 10-wicket victory over Nepal on Sunday, booking their spot in the final of the Blind T20 World Cup 2024, set to be held at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a modest target of 95 runs, the Pakistani openers made quick work of the chase, reaching the target in just 5.3 overs without losing a single wicket. Kamran Akhtar led the charge with an explosive 63 not out off 21 balls, blasting 13 boundaries, including a six. He was well-supported by Babar Ali, who contributed a solid 32 not out from 14 balls, ensuring Pakistan’s flawless run chase.
Earlier, Nepal’s innings struggled to gain momentum as they could only post a total of 94/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The Nepalese middle-order, led by Durgadatta Paudel, fought valiantly, with Paudel remaining the top scorer for his side. His patient knock of 40 runs off 42 balls was the highlight of Nepal’s innings. Ramesh Baniyan was the next best with an unbeaten 17 off 30 balls, but the rest of the batters failed to make an impact, with none of them reaching double figures.
Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Mati Ullah, were relentless. Ullah delivered a stunning performance, claiming 3 wickets for just 5 runs in his four overs, while Badar Munir added to Nepal’s woes with a wicket to his name. The Nepalese batsmen struggled to break free from the disciplined Pakistani attack, falling well short of a competitive total.
With this resounding victory, Pakistan now awaits its opponents in the final, where they will face either Sri Lanka or Bangladesh, who will compete in the second semi-final. The highly anticipated final will be held at Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
